Give Ozarks 2016: A 24 Hour Online Fundraising Marathon to support BCFO
Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO) is participating in Give Ozarks 2016 event, a 24-hour online fundraising marathon taking place on May 3, 2016 from midnight to midnight.
With your help, BCFO has the opportunity to raise $10,000 for our Legacy of Hope Endowment and an additional $7,500 for Operations Fund for critical programs and services for families impacted by breast cancer in the Ozarks.
BCFO’s Legacy of Hope Endowment assures families in our community that help and hope will be available for future generations. This year the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which is presenting Give Ozarks, selected BCFO to receive up to $5,000 in 1:1 matching funds to expand BCFO’s endowment fund. An endowment is crucial for the long-term sustainability of BCFO because it provides an annual distribution while its original principal grows over time. You can support our Legacy of Hope Endowment effort by making a secure donation at BCFO Legacy of Hope Endowment | Goal: $5,000 anytime from midnight to midnight on May 3, 2016.
BCFO’s Operations Fund allows us to continue to provide critical programs and services to families impacted by breast cancer throughout the year.
These include the following:
Financial Assistance – BCFO regularly provides short-term, non-medical financial assistance to those in our community currently in breast cancer treatment. We routinely has over 300 active such cases in process throughout the year. This financial assistance is often critical for those in treatment, so they will be able to complete their prescribed treatment regimen and know their immediate financial needs will still be met.
Free Screening Mammogram Program – BCFO provides life-saving free screening mammograms to qualified applicants at 15 qualified medical centers throughout southwest Missouri. BCFO anticipates funding will be required for approximately 600 free screening mammograms over the next 12 months and each of these mammograms are provided at a contracted cost to BCFO of approximately $100.
Children’s Fund – BCFO operates a Children’s Fund to address the specific needs of children in families impacted by breast cancer. This essential assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis and offers help to children for clothing, schools supplies, childcare, holiday gifts, and other necessities.
Other Important Services Provided – Other critical services BCFO provides to the community includes, but is not limited to, support groups, a “One-to-One” mentoring program for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer, a free lymphedema garment program to qualified candidates that are uninsured or underinsured, and other services to assist those impacted by breast cancer.
You are welcome to donate to both funds as many times as you would like from midnight to midnight on Tuesday, May 3rd. As a reminder, this is a one day only fundraising event and BCFO can win additional cash prizes throughout the day.
