Local Resources for Those Affected by Breast Cancer
The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks provides local resources for those affected by breast cancer, promote breast cancer awareness, and provides resources and support for individuals and their families in the local area who are and have been affected by breast cancer and are concerned with women's health issues.

Grants Awarded to BCFO

2006 - 2007

  • Gammill Family Foundation
    • $15,000 grant for the BCFO Client Distribution Program to assist families in Howell county  facing breast cancer with nonmedical expenses.

2005 - 2006

  • United Way www.unitedway.org
    • $5,000 grant to provide funds for payments made from the BCFO Client Distribution Program.  
  • Gammill Family Foundation
    • $15,000 grant for the BCFO Client Distribution Program to assist families in Howell county  facing breast cancer with nonmedical expenses.
  • Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation
    • $2,500 grant to support the BCFO Screening Mammography Program. All funds will be used to make payments for mammography services for uninsured or underinsured women.
  • John Bostwick Fund through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks
    • $2,400 grant for the BCFO Client Distribution Program to assist families In Greene & Stone counties  facing breast cancer with nonmedical expenses.
  • Missouri Foundation for Health www.mffh.org/
    • Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks receives $93,648 grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health
    • The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO) has been awarded a 24 – month grant in the amount of $93,648 from the Missouri Foundation for Health. The Missouri Foundation for Health is a philanthropic organization whose vision is to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves.
    • The grant award will be used to fund the Professional Education and Outreach Program. The funds will be used to start a mammography program that will help cover the cost of mammography screenings for those who qualify as well as provide resources to purchase lymphedema garments for those in need. In addition to funding these programs, the grant will allow the BCFO to hire an RN Educator to develop organizational education and support services.

2004 - 2005

  • The Junior League of Springfield www.jlspringfield.org
    • 2004 grant award of $5000 to support the "Children's Fund" within the BCFO Client Distribution Program. This fund provides financial assistance for the specific needs of the children within the families assisted by the BCFO Client Distribution Fund. In addition, the Junior League of Springfield has also chosen the BCFO "A Time to Share" event as one of their "Done in a Day" Volunteer Projects. Junior League volunteers will help organize the day long educational event as well as provide logistical support on the event day.
  • Associated Electric Cooperative www.aeci.org
    • $2,000 award to be used to support the Client Distribution Program
  • Visiting Nurse Association Foundation (Now the Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation)
    • 2004 grant award of $3000 for the establishment of the BCFO Lymphedema Fund.
    • The entire grant will be used to purchase lymphedema garments for uninsured or underinsured women in the local area suffering the affects of lymphedema as a result of breast cancer
  • United Way of the Ozarks www.uwozarks.com
    • $5,000 award to be used to support the Client Distribution Program
  • Community Foundation of the Ozarks www.cfozarks.org
    • $30,000 grant award creating the BCFO Rural Initiative. This initiative will allow the BCFO to expand services throughout the Ozarks in the form of education and financial assistance. Through the initiative, the BCFO will partner with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks Affiliate Foundations to disseminate information about the available programs and services, make referral contacts for the Client Distribution.
