Panera Pink Ribbon Bagel

For the sixth consecutive year, the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and Panera Bread have joined forces in the fight against breast cancer.  Panera Bread sold “Pink Ribbon Bagels” during the entire month of October – National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - at all five Springfield locations and one in Branson.  25 cents from the sale of every Pink Ribbon Bagel was donated to Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, generating close to $4,000!

Renee Eiffert, Panera Bread’s Director of Marketing, explains how they got involved with starting a promotion to raise breast cancer awareness. “Cancer in many forms has touched the lives of numerous people in our organization, breast cancer specifically. One of our owners is a nearly twenty-year survivor who is actively involved in breast cancer organizations in the Tulsa area. Early in 2001, she innocently told a friend she wanted to do more to raise funds and awareness…and the friend squarely challenged her to do so! Thus was born the Pink Ribbon Bagel. We believe the BCFO meshes well with our goal to contribute directly back to the community. In all our markets, we have selected breast cancer partners that put money back into the lives of women in their communities.”

Special thanks to the M&M Boys from Oldies 105.1 for promoting our efforts.
