LAVETTA RHINEHART's work can be described as a
dissertation of her own insights and realizations. The
actual painting may precede the awareness of the realization
and the two may seem separate until both have been completed,
at which time the recognition of the initial question within
the mind of Lavetta is answered both in painting and verse.
Some of Lavetta's work is accompanied by a written yet
empirical analysis, thus the whole action is a visual documentation
of evolvement of the artist and the person.
Married to artist Charles Rhinehart, Lavetta enjoys traveling with her
husband to gather new painting ideas by way of sketching trips
to many states. Her paintings are enjoyed by many private and
corporate collections, including the Bank of Ozark.
M. CHARLES RHINEHART's visionary works are collected nationally and internationally.
They are shown in several major corporate collections, including
The Pillsbury Company and Leggett and Platt. Charles is,
for the most part, self-taught and has enjoyed his art profession
for more than forty years. He has studied and taught himself
through the works of the early American landscape painters
such as Thomas Moran (his favorite painter). Other aids have
been and are still the outdoor painting trips, continued
study, and drawing on the location from all over the States,
including Alaska, as well as British Columbia and the Yukon.
A poem he
wrote best explains that which he most values:
I measure
my wealth not in silver
But that you're allowing me to share it with you.
When you allow me that's where my wealth comes.
Please
note that Lavetta
and Charles Rhinehart lost their home, gallery
and studio in the devastating tornado of May 4, 2003. All
of their paintings were saved and they may be contacted
at 417-476-2541 for times and location of their temporary
gallery.

Several years
ago when Mary Beth O’Reilly visited the Rhinehart Gallery
in Eureka Springs she met Lavetta through her husband Charles
Rhinehart. Charles and Mary Beth knew each other from living
in a small town in Southeast Missouri. Mary Beth purchased
the print, Knowing Silence, at that time. She and Lavetta
became friends.
Shortly after
the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks began, Lavetta offered
a limited, special edition print of "Knowing Silence" that
are signed and numbered to the Foundation for use as an ongoing fundraiser. At that time Lavetta and
Mary Beth coined the Foundation’s slogan based on the print’s
title. The slogan, “Stop the Silence, Spread the Word,
Breast Cancer Affects All Ages", supports the foundation’s
educational approach for all men and women with the special
focus on women under 40.
The painting, “Knowing Silence” has been very well received. Rhinehart
is currently retaining the original work for her collection. “The
work has been phenomenally popular”, she says. “It says
something to most everyone who looks at it. Most people respond
to it’s mystery”. To Rhinehart, the painting reflects
the three attainments of the perfect balance within a person, spiritual,
mental and physical.
